External validity of teamwork and leadership behavior in academic labs: evidence from samples in Peru and the U.S
(2022-11-23) Otmar E. Varela; Michael J. Burke; Kety Jauregui; Susy Quevedo
In this investigation, we tested hypotheses concerning how external validity, in relation to leadership and teamwork, was affected as participants moved from organizational to academic settings. Participants consisted of working business students (N = 159) from two countries, Peru and the United States, who adopted leader/teammate roles across settings. Results indicated that (a) transactional leadership and teamwork behavior demonstrated in organizational contexts were predictive of similar behavior in academic contexts, (b) the cultural setting of the study moderates the carry over effect of teamwork and leadership behavior from organizations to laboratories, and (c) for several leadership and teamwork behaviors, role identity and self-awareness incrementally added to the prediction of similar behaviors in academic contexts. We discuss the implications of our findings for enhancing the external validity of laboratory studies in applied psychology and for instruction of teamwork and leadership in academe.

Poverty Reduction through Corporate Social Responsibility: Case Study of Peruvian Rural Families
    (2023-01-09) José Ventura; Kety Jauregui
Poverty remains one of this millennium’s main problems, which why the first objective of sustainable development is poverty reduction. Multiple actors are working on this issue: states, multilateral organisms, civil societies, and—perhaps less boldly—the private sector, through social responsibility programs. In this research, the aim was to understand how rural families perceive the contribution of CSR programs, in respect to the decrease in rural poverty. A total of 20 rural families, who were beneficiaries from CSR programs belonging to two extractive companies, were interviewed; furthermore, they were no longer poor and were currently dwelling within the highlands and jungles of Perú. The results show that the CSR strategies used by the companies directly and indirectly contribute toward a reduction in rural poverty, and particularly those more specifically related to capacity development, access to markets, and strategic philanthropy. In this study, it was also found that families mostly use the strategy of informal entrepreneurship, which is not directly linked to the companies’ actions; as such, this could serve as a basis for the future implementation of CSR actions.

(2024-07-19) Francoise Contreras; Kety Jauregui; Susanne Rank
An integrated approach from the academic for comprehending and advancing in the human resource digital transformation is needed. In this sense, this study aims to analyze the development, current status, and trends of the literature of human resource management research regarding its digital transformation. A total of 284 academic documents published between 2001-2022 in all fields of knowledge were retrieved from the Web of Science (WoS) database. Data was analyzed through VOSViewer software and bibliometrix R-package. According to the bibliometric analyses, from 2015 digital transformation of HRM had a sustained crescent interest being more remarkable since 2020. Foundational papers, the most influential documents, journals and authors were identified. Through a bibliographic coupling analysis, we identify five current mainstreams: 1) Impact, challenges and out-comes of e-HRM, 2) e-HRM and organizational strategy, 3) Conceptualization of strategic human resource management, 4) Effectiveness of e-HRM: productivity and performance, and 5) e-HRM and innovation. Co-word analysis shows clusters oriented to 1) digital platforms, 2) data analytics and 3) organizational strategy. All the conducted analyses show that human factors have received less attention, a finding confirmed by the thematic map. “Management, strategy, information” and “antecedents, quality and economic growth” are acquiring special relevance and are structuring the research field of digital HRM according to the Thematic Map. These findings are discussed.
