Resumen
The use of technologies for the control and monitoring of industrial processes is growing. Thanks to the rise of artificial intelligence, the development of multiple automated systems is being promoted. This boom has also generated the existence of a competitive market, setting off the alarms in companies so that they increase their competitiveness and are aware that automation is an essential factor in Industry 4.0. The present project aims to address the implementation of an automated drip irrigation system using the Arduino UNO microcontroller in a greenhouse. The system will automate irrigation operations by employing temperature, float water level, and humidity sensors. The objective of automation is to increase productivity, reduce unnecessary water losses, ensure the effective use of water, and minimize costs. It should be emphasized that water is an increasingly scarce, limited, and costly resource, so it is essential to seek improvements in irrigation systems and practices. So, the automation of this system is designed to reduce the time and effort required by the user to irrigate the greenhouse; therefore, the implementation of this system will solve these problems and provide better control of the process. Finally, this system has been applied in a greenhouse in a high Andean area, in the Puno region of Peru, where greenhouses are gradually being used to grow crops that are not resistant to the intense cold of the area.
