Resumen
"The expansion of digital technologies and persistent educational inequalities have turned data into a strategic resource for Latin American education systems. However, the use of educational analytics remains uneven, shaped by differences in connectivity, institutional capacity, data governance, and teacher preparation. This article examines how educational analytics, particularly Learning Analytics, is being adopted in Latin America and under what conditions it can support quality, equity, and institutional decision-making. The study combines a narrative review of recent literature with descriptive analysis of official connectivity indicators for selected countries. Findings show a growing but fragmented landscape of dashboards, early warning systems, predictive models, and advising tools, concentrated mainly in institutions with stronger digital and research capacities. The paper argues that analytics should be understood as a socio-technical system in which infrastructure, governance, professional interpretation, and institutional action interact. It concludes by proposing design principles for context-sensitive analytics that align data use with educational improvement, ethical safeguards, and institutional objectives. © 2026 Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions.
